Ashton Sixth Form College is seeking to appoint an organised, proactive and student-focused Senior Admissions Officer to join our Higher & Adult Education team.
The Higher and Adult Education team is a small, dedicated team within the Sixth Form College, supporting around 300 adult learners each year across a wide range of provision. Courses span from GCSE programmes through to higher education and postgraduate teacher training, reflecting the breadth and ambition of our adult and HE offer.
The team comprises a close-knit mix of teaching and professional support staff who work collaboratively to deliver high-quality programmes, effective student services and a positive experience for adult learners. We are proud of our adult students’ achievements, with many progressing on to excellent jobs and university places, and we celebrate their success each year through an annual awards evening.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining operational leadership with meaningful student-facing work. As Senior Admissions Officer (Higher & Adult Education), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the experience of adult and higher education learners from first enquiry through to enrolment and beyond.
You will lead and coordinate admissions and enrolment activity across a complex range of funding streams, including:
- Adult Education Budget (GMCA funded provision)
- Advanced Learner Loans
- Higher Education Student Finance
- Fee-paying provision
- Trainee teacher programmes
Working closely with the Assistant Principal and colleagues across recruitment, finance, MIS and curriculum teams, you will ensure admissions processes are accurate, compliant and responsive to the needs of a diverse post-19 student community.
The successful candidate will oversee student finance administration, funding compliance and audit requirements, maintain accurate learner records and reporting systems, and support onboarding processes for university-validated and teacher training provision. The role also includes line management responsibility for the Evening Administrator and oversight of evening reception services.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has excellent administrative and organisational skills
- Is highly accurate with strong attention to detail
- Has experience working within a busy office, admissions or customer service environment
- Is confident managing systems, data and funding-related processes
- Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Can work collaboratively across teams whilst managing competing priorities
- Demonstrates professionalism, discretion and a commitment to inclusive practice
Previous experience within education and knowledge of post-19 funding streams would be advantageous.
In return, Ashton Sixth Form College offers a supportive and collaborative working environment, opportunities for professional development and the chance to make a real impact on the lives and progression of adult learners.
