Computer Science Teacher (QTS)
Programming | Creative Tech | Junior IT Support (with external guidance)
Overworld AMP – Independent SEN Provision | Farnham / Aldershot
Salary: £34,000 per year, with annual progression in line with standard teacher pay advancement.
Overworld AMP is seeking a Computer Science Teacher (QTS) who is passionate about coding, creative technology and hands‑on digital learning, with the confidence to provide junior‑level IT support alongside our external IT management provider. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, building things, exploring new tech and helping young people discover what they’re capable of.
This is a curriculum‑focused role, not a traditional teaching‑heavy post. You will design engaging digital pathways, support staff with delivery, and help us embed computing across gaming, creative media, outdoor learning and real‑world projects. Alongside this, you will act as a junior internal IT support contact, carrying out basic tasks such as PC builds, device setup, troubleshooting and simple networking — always with guidance and oversight from our external IT management team.
You will deliver 1:1, paired and small‑group sessions, adapting content and pace to meet the sensory, emotional and developmental needs of autistic, ADHD, PDA and SEMH learners. A key part of the role is training and supporting Support Workers, ensuring they feel confident delivering coding, digital literacy and creative tech tasks as part of daily provision.
If you’re someone who loves C++, enjoys experimenting with different programming languages and feels at home around hardware, devices or game engines, you’ll thrive here.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading the Computer Science curriculum across KS2–KS4
- Designing stage‑not‑age pathways for coding, digital literacy and creative tech
- Delivering 1:1, paired and small‑group computing sessions tailored to SEN needs
- Training and supporting Support Workers to deliver coding and digital tasks
- Acting as a junior IT support contact, including:
- PC builds and upgrades
- Device setup and troubleshooting
- Basic networking and connectivity
- Liaising with and taking guidance from the external IT management provider
- Embedding computing into gaming, esports, digital storytelling and outdoor learning
- Creating accessible micro‑tasks and flexible learning routes
- Overseeing assessment, evidence capture and internal verification
- Working collaboratively with Care Leads to ensure emotional and sensory safety underpin all learning
- Taking initiative in planning, adapting and responding to learners’ needs in real time
What we’re looking for
- QTS (required)
- Strong coding ability, especially in C++
- Confidence with at least one other language (Python, JavaScript, C#, Java)
- Practical IT confidence: PC building, troubleshooting, device management
- Someone who enjoys hands‑on technical work as a junior support role, not a full technician
- A reflective, collaborative approach to working with neurodivergent learners
- An interest in gaming, creative tech or outdoor learning is a real bonus
Who can apply
We welcome applications from QTS‑qualified teachers who are newly qualified and who bring some industry or specialist background in this subject area. Teachers who may be early in their classroom career but have relevant practical experience, emerging expertise or professional qualifications in the field are encouraged to apply. You will receive full supervision, curriculum guidance and ongoing support from the Head of Education to ensure confidence, consistency and high‑quality delivery.
Teamwork, Inclusion & Safeguarding
We are a collaborative, reflective team where no one works in isolation. Shared planning, open communication and mutual support are central to our practice.
We warmly welcome applications from neurodivergent candidates and those from diverse backgrounds, identities and lived experiences.
Overworld AMP is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All roles require an enhanced DBS check and ongoing safeguarding training.
