We are seeking a reliable and proactive Transport & Packaging Operative to join our Logistics Support team. This role is responsible for the safe movement, packaging, handling, and distribution of assets across site, ensuring compliance with health, safety, security, and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all Transport & Packaging areas and vehicles comply with Health & Safety regulations, reporting any non-compliance to the supervisory team.
- Maintain a strong commitment to health and safety, following all company procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
- Support the daily work schedule and priorities set by the supervisory team.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team, including providing banksman support for vehicle manoeuvring and inter-departmental movements.
- Assist wider operational teams as required, undertaking tasks within your training and competency levels.
- Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to undertake a variety of tasks to support business needs.
- Operate manual handling equipment, including pallet trucks.
- Drive and operate a range of vehicles safely, including the use of tail lifts.
- Transport bulk stores and operational assets safely between multiple on-site locations.
- Support the manufacture, repair, movement, and handling of specialist transport containers (STCs).
- Carry out repackaging activities and prepare loads for distribution, ensuring all documentation checks are completed accurately.
- Following appropriate training, operate specialist vehicles such as tractor and trailer combinations for the movement of ground support equipment.
- Conduct initial quality and paperwork inspections on incoming and outgoing assets.
- Raise intervention reports and documentation where required.
- Move STCs and other operational equipment across site as required.
- Comply with local Motor Transport (MT) orders and airfield driving regulations.
- Ensure the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to all relevant risk assessments.
- Complete all mandatory training within required timescales.
- Utilise IT systems and equipment to record and track completed tasks and operational activities.
- Maintain Logistics Support toolkits and equipment in a serviceable condition.
- Conduct routine vehicle husbandry checks and report defects or issues.
- Escalate any performance concerns relating to the Transport & Packaging service to the supervisory team.
- Support the movement of TyTAN assets, AGE, TMEC equipment, STCs, packaging, and other operational assets between customers and repair facilities using a variety of vehicles.
- Load and unload delivery vehicles safely, ensuring the protection of personnel and assets.
- Represent the company professionally at all times, maintaining a smart appearance and wearing company-issued workwear correctly.
