Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Automation Engineer to join our small dynamic engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, building and maintaining automated robotic systems that optimise manufacturing processes. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects, improve operational efficiency, and drive technological advancements within our organisation. The ideal applicant will possess strong problem-solving abilities, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for automation technology.

Duties

Design, develop, and build automation solutions for manufacturing and production processes.
An appreciation of using CAD based drawing tools.
Analyse existing systems to identify areas for optimisation and efficiency improvements.
Develop control logic programmes using PLCs, SCADA systems, or other automation software.
Conduct testing and commissioning of automated equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards are met.
Troubleshoot technical issues related to automation systems promptly and effectively.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of system designs, modifications, and maintenance procedures.
Stay abreast of emerging automation technologies and recommend innovative solutions to enhance operational capabilities.

Experience

Proven experience as an Automation Engineer or in a similar role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Experience with logic controllers and inverter drives would be advantageous.
Experience of PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), SCADA systems, and HMI development.
Familiarity with industrial control systems, robotics, sensors, actuators, and networking protocols.
Experience with software development languages such as Python or C++ is advantageous.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex automation issues efficiently.
Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related fields).
Prior experience working on projects from conception through to implementation is highly desirable.
