.Join Our Growing Finance Team
AJW Distribution Group Ltd is seeking an ambitious, detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is either qualified or working towards their ACCA or CIMA qualification and is looking to develop their career within a fast-paced, growing business.
Working closely with the Accounting Manager and Finance Director, you'll play a key role in supporting both the day-to-day finance function and the preparation of monthly management accounts. This varied position offers the perfect blend of operational finance and management accounting responsibilities.
What You'll Be Doing
Your role will include supporting both the sales and purchase ledger functions alongside assisting with the production of management accounts.
Sales & Purchase Ledger
- Posting daily cash receipts.
- Setting up new customer accounts.
- Supporting the purchase ledger function when required.
- Maintaining accurate financial records.
Management Accounting
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Reconciling bank accounts, cash accounts and company credit cards.
- Preparing monthly journals including prepayments, accruals, hire purchase and lease schedules.
- Collecting payroll information for submission to our external payroll provider.
- Supporting budget holders with financial reporting and budget management.
- Assisting with annual audit preparation.
- Supporting the management of annual charity funds.
- Preparing quarterly VAT returns.
- Managing and reviewing invoice finance reporting, schedules and funding requests.
- Providing support to the Accounting Manager and Finance Director.
- Helping to develop and support the wider finance team.
- Undertaking additional finance and administrative duties as required.

Qualifications
Applicants should hold one of the following:
- AAT Level 4 qualification.
- Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA.
- Currently studying towards ACCA or CIMA.
- Fully qualified ACCA or CIMA candidates are also welcome to apply.
