Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting children with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the appropriate guidance and resources to thrive in an inclusive environment. This position requires a strong background in childcare and special education, along with excellent behaviour management skills.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) for children with special educational needs.
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to create tailored support strategies.
Monitor and assess the progress of children, providing regular feedback to stakeholders.
Provide training and mentoring to staff on best practices for supporting children with diverse needs.
Facilitate workshops and training sessions focused on behaviour management techniques.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and school policies regarding special educational needs.
Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on best practices in special education.

Experience

Proven experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting, particularly with preschool or toddler care.
Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and applied behaviour analysis techniques.
Experience in mentoring staff or peers is highly desirable.
Familiarity with special education frameworks and methodologies is essential.
A background in teaching subjects such as maths is advantageous but not mandatory.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with children, parents, and colleagues.
