Job Description: Gallery / Makers Yard Assistant

Location: Sculpture by the Lakes, Dorset

Role Overview

We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic individual to join our team at Sculpture by the Lakes as a Gallery / Makers Yard Assistant. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a beautiful setting and contribute to the promotion and sale of contemporary art from our gallery on site. This varied roll will also include working in the other retail outlets at the Makers Yard area at Sculpture by the Lakes. Training will be given, but some knowledge and interest in art is essential.

Responsibilities:

Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to visitors, answering enquiries and offering advice on artworks.
Gallery Maintenance: Ensure the gallery space is clean, tidy, and well-maintained, including outdoor display areas.
Sales Support: Assist with the sales process, including handling point-of-sale transactions, wrapping, and inventory management.
Event Support: Contribute to the planning and execution of gallery events, such as exhibitions, workshops, and private viewings.
Administrative Tasks: Undertake general administrative duties as required, including data entry and correspondence.
Sculpture Care: Assist with the care and maintenance of sculptures, including cleaning. There may be lifting involved.
Flexibility: Demonstrate a flexible approach to duties by stepping in to support and work in other departments across the site when needed to ensure the smooth running of the venue.
Job is Tuesday - Saturday

Skills and Experience:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Passion for contemporary art and sculpture
Strong customer service orientation
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Attention to detail and organisational skills
Flexibility and willingness to adapt to different roles across the business

Pay: £24,420.00-£30,000.00 per year
