Shore Medical is a GP Super Partnership with 6 practices across Poole and Bournemouth. We aspire to offer exceptional care to our 58,000 patients and are innovative in our approach to developing new teams and pathways to ever improve how general practice is delivered. We have a friendly and supportive team of more than 200 staff, with over 40 GP’s, Pharmacists, Paramedics, Nurses, Mental Health specialists and our range of administrative staff. We have a great social side to our team with Summer and Christmas parties, running and paddle boarding groups as well as many other events throughout the year.

The Opportunity

Shore Medical are seeking Call Handlers to join our friendly team at Lilliput Surgery.

Call Handlers assist patients and the public with their queries over the phone, working as part of a team, so a calm and professional phone manner is essential. Another key element of the role is to provide accurate, efficient, and punctual medical administration inputting data into a clinical triage system.

Job Type: Permanent Full/Part Time shifts available

Hours: 8.00am-6.30pm

Hourly Rate: £12.71 per hour

Key Responsibilities

Answering incoming calls in a timely, polite, and patient focused manner
Providing a high-quality data processing service to patients on our triage system via phone or face to face
Searching patient records, checking patient details and patient confidentiality
On receipt of a call, you are responsible for recording the right information, sometimes under difficult circumstances and offering advice or reassurance to the patient
Entering patient details on to SystmConnect about their condition which categorises the seriousness of the illness or injury – you will then assign to our highly skilled care navigation team who will ensure that the patient receives the most appropriate care from us

About You

Previous experience in a busy role handling calls and efficiently managing and prioritising administrative tasks
Excellent communication skills- written and verbal
A calming and professional telephone manner with the ability to adapt to differing calls with ease
High attention to detail with accuracy applied across all work
Ability to work well in a time-sensitive environment
Educated to a high standard at GCSE level in Maths, English or equivalent
Fully conversant in Microsoft Office packages
Use of SystmConnect would be beneficial
Proven experience in a GP/NHS department environment would be highly desirable
