Job Title: Facilities Assistant
Location: Fieldstone School, Devon, TQ12 1NH
Salary: £24,500 per annum (not pro rata)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8am - 4pm
Contract: Permanent | 52 Weeks
Start: October 2026

About the Role

At Fieldstone School, we're looking for a proactive Facilities Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. This is more than a maintenance role—it's an opportunity to play an important part in creating a safe, welcoming and inspiring environment where children and young people can learn, grow and achieve their full potential.

No two days are the same. From carrying out repairs and maintaining our school buildings and grounds to supporting health and safety and improving our learning environment, you'll be a valued member of our school community whose work has a direct impact every single day.

What You’ll Do

Take charge of your specialist trade or area of expertise, delivering high-quality maintenance and repairs
Assist the maintenance team with both planned projects and reactive tasks
Conduct regular site inspections to spot and resolve Health & Safety concerns
Advise staff on the safe use and maintenance of machinery and equipment
Support risk assessments and ensure compliance with COSHH and other regulations
Maintain tools and equipment, keeping everything in top condition
Travel across the school site and to suppliers as needed

What We’re Looking For

GCSE Maths & English at level 4 or above
Proven experience in facilities management or a relevant trade (plumbing, joinery, electrical, decorating, etc.)
Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and compliance standards
Ability to work independently with initiative, but also collaborate effectively within a team
Excellent problem-solving skills and clear communication
Flexibility and responsiveness to urgent maintenance needs
Driving licence is essential
