Ground Worker / Plant Operator

Location: Sturminster Newton, Dorset

About the Role

Bartlett Contractors Ltd is seeking a motivated and flexible Ground Worker / Plant Operator to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and multi-skilled individual who enjoys a varied role, combining plant operation with hands-on groundwork activities.

The successful candidate will be capable of operating excavators ranging from 14-tonne down to 1.5-tonne machines and will have a strong background in general civil engineering and groundwork projects. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, demonstrates a positive attitude, and is committed to delivering high-quality results safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Operate tracked excavators from 14T to 1.5T safely and efficiently.
Carry out a wide range of groundwork activities including:
Concrete works and finishing.
Drainage installation.
Ducting installation.
Hard landscaping works.
Kerbing and edging.
Paving and surfacing works.
Assist with site set-up and general construction activities.
Work effectively as part of a team whilst also being capable of working independently.
Follow all health, safety and environmental procedures.
Maintain plant and equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.

Essential Requirements

Proven experience in both plant operation and groundwork activities.
Competent operating excavators from 14T to 1.5T.
Valid UK Driving Licence.
Valid CPCS or NPORS card with CSCS logo.
Experience in drainage, ducting, concrete works and hard landscaping.
Good communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude.
Strong awareness of health and safety requirements on construction sites.

Desirable Qualifications

The following are advantageous but not essential:

First Aid at Work qualification.
Confined Space certification.
SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme).
Dumper ticket.
Roller ticket.
