We're looking for an experienced conveyancing professional to join our Risk, Compliance & Training (RCT) team as a Lead Conveyancing Trainer.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys developing people, sharing knowledge and improving standards across a business, but is ready to step away from the pressures of managing their own caseload, client expectations, exchange deadlines and billing targets.
Working as part of a close-knit and highly experienced team, you'll design and deliver engaging training programmes across our Residential Conveyancing, Post Completion and wider legal support teams. You'll help identify knowledge gaps, create practical guidance and training materials, deliver both face-to-face and online training, and play a key role in supporting the continual development of colleagues across the business.
You'll join a collaborative team of experienced legal and compliance professionals who work closely together to identify trends, improve processes, reduce risk and continuously raise standards across the firm.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Design and deliver on-going innovative training programmes across a variety of formats, including in person sessions, webinars, workshops and e-learning
- Deliver an engaging and effective induction programme to ensure new starters feel fully prepared and ready to start their new career with PLS
- Create training materials, guidance notes, online learning content and knowledge resources
- Conduct training needs analysis, identifying trends, recurring technical queries and knowledge gaps, then developing targeted training solutions
- Supporting training across residential conveyancing, post completion, compliance, systems and processes, as well as training on other skills including customer service, accounts, and compliance
- Continuous monitoring and evaluation of training programme effectiveness to identify opportunities to improve engagement, knowledge retention, performance and ROI
- Ensure we remain fully compliant with regards to training needs as required by governing bodies such as the SRA, CQS and CPD by providing relevant and timely training
- Mentor any Apprentices, ensuring they are on track with their studies and assignments, and liaising with the apprenticeship provider
- Preparing, reviewing and amending correspondence, templates, standard documents and other documentation as requested
- Researching legal updates, regulatory changes and best practice developments to ensure training remains current and relevant
- Build strong relationships with managers and colleagues across the business to understand development needs and drive positive change
- Work closely with colleagues across the Risk, Compliance & Training team to support continual improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For:
- At least 5 years' experience handling conveyancing cases
- Experience coaching, mentoring, supporting or developing colleagues is essential for this role, so we’re open to applications from Conveyancing Trainers/Managers, Senior/Technical Conveyancers, Team Leaders, or similar
- Strong technical knowledge across a range of residential conveyancing transactions, including more complex matters
- New build conveyancing experience would be highly advantageous, although strong candidates without this experience will still be considered
- A confident and engaging communicator who is comfortable presenting to groups and delivering training sessions
- The ability to explain technical concepts in a practical, easy-to-understand way
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear guidance, procedures and training materials
- A proactive approach to identifying knowledge gaps, training needs and opportunities for improvement
- Qualified Solicitor, CILEX or Licensed Conveyancer status would be advantageous but is not essential
What You’ll Get in Return:
- The opportunity to step away from the pressures of running a caseload while continuing to use and develop your conveyancing expertise
- A highly visible role where you'll directly influence colleague development, service quality and business performance
- The opportunity to put your own stamp on an established training programme while benefiting from extensive existing materials and support
- A collaborative and highly experienced Risk, Compliance & Training team that shares knowledge, supports one another and values new ideas
- Significant autonomy in how training is designed, delivered and developed
- Flexible working arrangements, with hybrid working as standard
- Join a growing, tech-driven law firm with a genuine focus on innovation.
- Long-term development opportunities – including study support options (employer-funded after 12- months).
- 25 days AL + Bank Holidays, with buy/carry over options
- Employee benefits: death in service, healthcare plan, EAP, counselling, and salary sacrifice
- Extras: free conveyancing, mortgage advice, staff discounts
