Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Second Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality dishes in a fast-paced restaurant environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for culinary arts to develop their skills and contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences. The Second Chef will work closely with the head chef and other kitchen staff to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen, maintaining high standards of food safety and presentation.

Duties

Prepare, cook, and present dishes according to restaurant standards and recipes
Oversee specific sections of the kitchen, such as grill, pastry, or sauté stations
Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with health and safety regulations
Assist in menu planning and development, suggesting new ideas for dishes
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations at all times
Monitor stock levels and place orders for ingredients as needed
Train junior kitchen staff and ensure they adhere to hygiene standards
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely service and customer satisfaction

Qualifications

Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable
Excellent skills in meal preparation and presentation
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy setting
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Experience serving customers or working in a customer-facing role is advantageous
Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are preferred but not essential
