Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Kitchen Porter to join our dynamic culinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen environment, supporting food preparation activities, and assisting with basic food safety procedures. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in developing their skills within the hospitality industry, with potential pathways into food production, cooking, and team management. Prior kitchen or restaurant experience is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. The successful candidate will get share of tips after a probation period.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all kitchen areas are kept clean, organised, and hygienic in accordance with food safety standards
- Wash, dry, and store dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment efficiently
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision to support chefs and kitchen staff
- Support the movement of ingredients and supplies around the kitchen as needed
- Maintain stock levels of cleaning supplies and notify management of replenishment needs
- Assist in waste disposal and recycling procedures to uphold environmental standards
- Support the team during busy service periods by ensuring smooth workflow and cleanliness
- Follow health and safety regulations at all times to ensure a safe working environment
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen, hospitality, or restaurant environment is desirable but not mandatory
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices is advantageous
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Team-oriented mindset with good communication skills
- Willingness to learn new skills related to food production and kitchen operations
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak hours
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including evenings or weekends if necessary
