Full job description

Make a lasting difference to the health and wellbeing of children, young people, and families across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

As a School Nurse (SCPHN Qualified), you'll lead the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme, ensuring children, young people and their families have equitable access to high-quality, evidence-based health advice and support when they need it most. Working collaboratively with schools, families and partner agencies, you'll play a key role in promoting healthy lifestyles, identifying early intervention opportunities, and improving health outcomes within your local community.

This is a rewarding role where you'll use your specialist knowledge, clinical expertise and leadership skills to influence positive change, safeguard vulnerable children, and empower young people to achieve their full potential.

You'll be based within local communities across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, working flexibly from schools, community hubs, other community venues and family homes, with no two days the same.

Posts are available for up to 37.5 hours per week, all year round, offering the opportunity to build a meaningful career while making a real difference every day.

The School Nurse will use advanced assessment skills to work in partnership with children, young people, and families to understand their needs and agree any appropriate support required to contribute to improving their long-term outcomes.

You will;

Lead on the triaging of referrals and carrying out holistic
needs assessment through utilising advanced communication skills and expert assessment skills to determine the level of support required.

Work collaboratively with other agencies to promote health and well-being and improve early identification of strengths, needs and risks to child outcomes. This includes contributing to child protection procedures and early help support.

Actively participate in supporting students of all levels and disciplines by involvement in supervision and assessment and development opportunities.

Be a motivated team member working innovatively and with a high standard of practice that is research based.

Lead, develop, implement, and evaluate health promotion activities for children, young people and families that include group sessions, webinars and roadshows.

Lead the provision of school drop-in sessions in both primary and secondary schools working in partnership with schools.
