The business brings together experienced field engineers, technical specialists, account managers and remote monitoring capabilities to help customers maximise plant availability, operational efficiency and asset life. Its services include planned and reactive maintenance, engine servicing, fault diagnosis, performance optimisation, remote monitoring, compliance support and long-term asset management.

YLEM Power supports a range of energy technologies and operational environments, including flexible generation, combined heat and power, landfill gas, battery energy storage and other decentralised energy assets. Employees within YLEM Power work in a technically focused, service-led environment where safety, reliability, responsiveness and customer performance are central to the business.

Purpose

Based at small scale industrial power generation projects supplying the national grid, to respond to equipment fault should they occur during sporadic and commonly undetermined periods of operation. Work time may vary to reflect trading conditions. Opportunity to progress into semi skill/skilled roles within the business following demonstrable capability and willingness to apply mechanical or electrical aptitude.

Main Responsibilities

The role will require the attendance to allocated site/s to be stationed to respond quickly to any failure or interruption to equipment operation.
Working hours may vary depending upon trading and operation of the plant. National Grid Peaker operation is typically early morning and/or evening operation although difficult to predict. Time of attendance to be agreed in advance.
Day to day operation and record keeping for infrastructure, plant and equipment.
Housekeep of all mechanical, thermal and electrical plant deployed at the Company’s energy production facilities.
Fault diagnosis, location and rectification.
Breakdown response for generating assets with minimum outages.
Provide assistance with call out cover to remotely respond to generating asset and equipment failure in the area as agreed.
A commitment to Health, Safety Quality and Environmental practices following all procedures and using your own judgement.
Adherence to Lone Working procedures and Health and Safety inspection process
Ensuring site and equipment cleanliness and appearance
Compliance and implementation of company protection procedures with a proactive approach to maintaining, monitoring, reporting and auditing.
Managing your time effectively.
The continuous enhancement of skills and knowledge, and that of the team members working with you.

Key Tasks

Utilisation and compliance of the company’s operations and maintenance procedures, manuals, record keeping and stock control systems.
Basic maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical plant.
Reset of warnings and alarms when appropriate.
Showing the company in a good light by maintaining a clean, well-run site at all times.
Work within the constraints of the company’s H&S and quality systems.
Commitment to training to enhance knowledge and skills with regard environmental protection and materials. Deal directly with spillages using pollution prevention equipment.
Completion of basic outstanding works raised by site audits.
Any reasonable task required by the management in the exercising of its goals.

Knowledge/Experience

Experience or interest in either a mechanical, or electrical field.
Experience or interest in working with generation assets (reciprocating engines).
Computer literate.
Health and Safety Awareness and familiar with H&S Regulations.
Driving license and own transportation.

Personal Qualities

An ideal role for an individual who has experience with power generation equipment with computer control, however wiliness to learn and develop skills is a key attribute.
