Dunchurch Wharf is a boatyard for canal boats located at Dunchurch Pools, near Rugby, and set in the Warwickshire countryside. Our objective is to be the best inland waterways boatyard in the United Kingdom, providing exceptional customer service and quality. The yard is growing as it develops its reputation and facilities.
An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a full time Fabricator / Welder to join our team and grow with the business. Alongside steelwork, the successful candidate will also have a strong aptitude for Engineering. We are looking for a forward thinking, motivated professional to join our current, highly skilled team.
Objectives
· Deliver exceptional customer service and quality.
· Reporting to the Boatyard Manager, successfully lead the yard’s steelwork activities.
· Working alongside our team of Marine Engineers, deliver quality engineering services.
· Support customer liaison, design, quoting, purchasing and stock management activities.
· Contribute to Dunchurch Wharf’s friendly, active, ‘can do’ team culture.
Fabricator / Welder
Dunchurch Wharf is developing its steelwork services. Our 40ton amphibious hoist, steel handling equipment, 3 phase MIG welders and extensive hard standing have facilitated a good start. The successful candidate will take this forward:
· Hull modifications, repairs and overplating
· Superstructure modifications and repairs
· Steel fabrications such as hatches, rudders and lockers
· Stainless and integral tank fabrication and repairs
· MIG and ARC Welding (TIG nice to have)
· On and off site (typically local) working
Marine Engineer
Dunchurch Wharf has a highly skilled engineering team. The successful candidate will have the aptitude to work alongside this team when required. Direct engineering experience is not essential as the company will support training to develop skills for the right person:
· Diesel engine, gearbox and drive train fitting, fault finding & maintenance
· AC/DC, 12v/240v electrical installation, fault finding & maintenance
· Diesel heating systems installation, fault finding & maintenance
· Plumbing
· On and off site (typically local) working
The Successful Candidate
· Proven experience as a marine fabricator / welder
· Strong aptitude for engineering (direct experience not essential)
· Successful track record delivering quality on time
· Ability to assist with design, quotation and purchasing
· Friendly team player with a ‘can do’ approach
· Full driving licence.

It is anticipated that the individual will work five days a week including some Saturdays (40 hours per week). A program & quality bonus scheme is in place and overtime also available.
