About this opportunity:
Ponds equestrian has FANTASTIC FACILITIES and offers clients a wide range of livery options, from hacking to competition goals. Fiona is an international event rider who is ranked in the top 100 BE rides. She competes and produces horses up to 5* level as well as running a livery yard that offers a wealth of experience for the horses stabled there.
We are recruiting for an enthusiastic senior groom to join our team at one of Surrey’s best livery and event yards. We offer a great working atmosphere with good hours, as well as opportunities to learn and develop within the industry. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to progress in their career and learn in a professional, friendly and dynamic environment.
Duties will include but not limited to;
Stable and field management
Equine nutrition
Yard maintenance
Exercising horses including riding/schooling
Clean tack and equipment
Grooming for shows
Dealing with visits from professionals (Farrier, Vets, Dentists, Physios)
Customer service and dealing with livery queries
Desired Skills & Qualities
Applicants MUST be confident around horses and have prior experience with them as this is an ADVANCED apprenticeship, details to be shown on application.
Able to follow instructions and work well as part of the team and off own initiative
Pride in doing your job well
Pride in learning and developing skills both on and off the horse
Good work ethic
Team player
Reliable and trustworthy
Desired Qualifications
Ideally someone who already holds a level 2 in horse care but this is not essential depending on experience.
If using off site accommodation due to rural location and no public transport, a driving license is required.
Future prospects
Full time work at the end of training, for the right candidate if a suitable position is available, our first apprentice never left!
Training Provided
Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment. The applicant will be working towards a Level 3 Equine Groom apprenticeship.
The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
