About the Role as a Learning Support Assistant

Activate Learning is recruiting a caring and motivated Learning Support Assistant to join our specialist team based at our brand new Vocational and Lifeskills Hub for Post-16 learners with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities in Wokingham.

You will be supporting young people aged 16-25 with complex needs to re-engage in education through personalised, therapeutic, and vocational pathways.

Your responsibilities will include:

Support learners across Engagement, Employment (vocational/supported internships), and Academic pathways
Work with teachers to raise attainment and promote independence, confidence, and social inclusion
Provide support in class, small groups, and 1:1
Assist with personalised learning programmes linked to EHCP targets
Adapt materials to support literacy, numeracy, and communication needs
Use trauma-informed approaches to support behaviour and emotional regulation
Support learners in community and work-based settings
Monitor progress and maintain accurate records

This is a part time (4 days per week) fixed term contract until August 2027. term time only.

What do you need to be a successful Learning Support Assistant at Activate Learning?

GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
Experience with young people (16+) with SEMH, autism, or complex needs
Strong communication, organisation, and IT skills
Calm, flexible, and proactive, with a caring approach
Able to manage challenging behaviour and support independence
Willing to learn and undertake professional development

You will make a real difference to young people’s lives while working as part of a supportive, specialist team, with access to ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
