Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Pattern Cutter to join our busy, fast paced design room team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in pattern making, with a keen eye for detail and precision. This role involves developing and refining patterns to ensure the highest quality of finished garments, working closely with our design and production teams. You must have experience in pattern drafting and grading.
Responsibilities
- Create accurate first patterns from sketches and design briefs.
- Grade patterns across multiple size ranges.
- Create, develop, and modify patterns based on design specifications and sample garments
- Perform pattern drafting and garment development to achieve the perfect fit.
- Produce and manage samples from initial concept through to final approval.
- Conduct fitting sessions and adjust patterns accordingly to achieve desired fit and style
- Maintain organised records of all pattern designs and revisions
- Assist in fabric layout planning to optimise material usage during cutting processes
- Support sewing team when necessary, providing guidance on pattern implementation and adjustments
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Pattern Cutter within the fashion or apparel industry
- Excellent knowledge of pattern cutting, grading, garment construction, and sampling.
- Strong technical understanding of fit and garment development.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabric behaviour, and pattern development techniques
- Sewing skills are desirable, with the ability to understand garment assembly processes
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
