Are you calm under pressure, practical, reliable and passionate about providing exceptional care for dogs? Barkley and Co Doggy Daycare is looking for a Part-Time Dog Daycare Assistant to join our friendly and experienced team.
This is a hands-on role in a busy daycare environment and would suit someone who genuinely enjoys working with dogs and people, is willing to get stuck in, and takes pride in doing a great job.
Hours
- Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
- Hours to be discussed at interview
- Additional hours may occasionally be available to cover holidays and sickness
About the Role
As a Dog Daycare Assistant, you will help ensure that all dogs in our care have a safe, enriching and enjoyable experience. You will work as part of a close-knit team and support the smooth running of the daycare.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervising and interacting with groups of dogs of various breeds, ages and temperaments
- Monitoring dog behaviour and promoting safe play
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the daycare
- Assisting with feeding, cleaning and general care routines
- Greeting and communicating with clients in a friendly and professional manner
- Working closely with colleagues to ensure the day runs smoothly
- Following Barkley and Co's procedures and safety protocols at all times
- Assisting with the physical aspects of the role, including cleaning and preparing areas for the dogs
Essential Requirements
- A minimum Level 3 qualification in Animal Care, Animal Management or a related subject
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C/Grade 4 or above, including English and Maths
- Reliability and excellent timekeeping
- Confidence handling dogs in a professional environment
- A calm, practical and positive attitude
- Ability to work well within a team
- Good communication skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt
- Physically able to undertake an active role
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience working in a dog daycare, kennels, rescue environment, grooming salon, veterinary setting or similar animal care role
- Additional dog-related qualifications
- Knowledge of dog body language and behaviour
This Role May Not Suit You If:
- You are looking for a role where you spend most of the day cuddling dogs
- You dislike cleaning and practical tasks
- You struggle in a busy, fast-paced environment
- You are unable to commit to the Tuesday–Thursday schedule
