About Us
T. Howie Tree Specialist LTD is a growing tree surgery and grounds maintenance company based in Harrogate. We undertake a wide range of arboricultural and landscaping work for domestic and commercial clients throughout North Yorkshire.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit a reliable and hardworking General Labourer to join our team on a full-time basis.
The Role
This is a varied outdoor role working alongside experienced arborists and grounds staff. No two days are the same, and you will be involved in supporting tree surgery operations, site clearances, grounds maintenance, and general labouring duties.
Industry experience is preferred but not essential, as full training can be provided for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Assisting tree surgeons and grounds staff on site
- Processing brash and timber
- Operating wood chippers and other machinery (following training)
- Loading and unloading vehicles and equipment
- Maintaining tools, machinery, and work areas
- Carrying out daily equipment inspections
- Supporting site setup and traffic management where required
- Maintaining high standards of health and safety
- General grounds maintenance and labouring duties
Requirements
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Good awareness of health and safety
Desirable (but not essential)
- Previous experience in tree surgery, landscaping, forestry, construction, agriculture, or grounds maintenance
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Trailer licence (B+E)
- Woodchipper or chainsaw qualifications
- First Aid qualification
