Design Engineer – Engineering & Automation

Join our team

Are you a creative and detail-oriented Design Engineer looking to work on innovative automation projects? We are looking for a motivated individual to join our growing engineering team, designing bespoke solutions that help our customers improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of projects from initial concept through to manufacture and installation, collaborating with customers, project managers, and production teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design bespoke mechanical components, fixtures, and automation systems using 3D CAD software.
Produce detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials.
Develop innovative design solutions that meet customer specifications and project requirements.
Work closely with project engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
Participate in design reviews and implement improvements where required.
Support prototype development, testing, and commissioning activities.
Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards, safety regulations, and company procedures.
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and manufacturing processes.
Maintain accurate engineering documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

Qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related engineering discipline.
Experienced using 3D CAD software (such as SolidWorks).
Able to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
A strong problem solver with excellent attention to detail.
Comfortable managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
A confident communicator who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team.
Passionate about engineering innovation and continuous improvement.

Desirable Skills

Experience designing automation equipment, robotic systems, or special purpose machinery.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, and assembly.
Experience implementing or administering a PDM system.
Basic knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
Understanding of pneumatic systems and mechanical motion.
Experience creating technical documentation and risk assessments.
Familiarity with collaborative robots (cobots) or industrial automation would be an advantage.
