Role Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join our Purchasing team. Working at the heart of our procurement operations, you’ll take ownership of strategic procurement activities across both our engineering and our LMP2 motorsport projects. Building strong partnerships, driving negotiations and able to manage project timelines – with responsibility for logistics, import & export, you’ll help deliver the parts and performance our projects rely on. Key Responsibilities
- Hands-on management of the procurement of engine components, machined parts, composites, electronics, and performance‑critical ancillaries for LMP2 racing engines and systems.
- Reporting on stock levels and costings to the purchasing manager, ensuring that adequate stock is available for the production departments.
- Loading of parts and updating Sage with current pricing.
- Manage products supplied on technical partnerships.
- Manage delivery schedules & logistics.
- Resolve delivery discrepancies by comparing purchase order to delivery documentation; obtaining credits and refunds.
- Progress chasing of parts to prevent part shortages.
- Monitor collections & deliveries for UK and Worldwide.
- Collaborate closely with; Stores, Engine Build, Engineering, Accounts, Quality and Manufacturing teams.
- Deal with non-conformance issues with the quality department and suppliers.
- Lead commercial negotiations for pricing, supply agreements, and long‑term partnerships with global specialist suppliers.
- Maintain accurate cost data, KPI’s, BoMs, MRP records, and supplier documentation.
- Manage supplier performance, resolve quality issues quickly, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
- Comply with the requirements of the ISO9001: 2015 QMS.
- Comply with the requirements of the ISO14001: 2015 EMS.
What we are looking for
- Minimum 5 year procurement experience as a buyer ideally within motorsport, high‑performance automotive, aerospace, precision engineering, or similar industries.
- Supplier relationship management expertise, including performance reviews.
- Be able to multitask and must have a hands-on approach to their working practices.
- Experience with Sage, ERP/MRP systems.
- Good PC-Knowledge - Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
- Ideally working towards CIPS. Degree qualified an advantage.
- The desire to make a difference in a growing company looking to make an instant impact.
- Organised, driven & motivated with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Import, Export / Customs requirements is beneficial.
- An understanding of powertrain components, CNC-machined parts, castings, composites, electronics, and race‑car ancillaries.
- Comfortable interpreting engineering drawings, tolerances, and technical specifications.
- Confident negotiator with strong commercial awareness.
- Excellent communication and supplier‑relationship skills.
- Strong organisation and prioritisation abilities, especially under motorsport time pressures.
