Full or Part Time Forest School Practitioner

Scope of the role
We are seeking a Forest School Specialist to join our ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rated School in Devon. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality forest school sessions to our children in the West Somerset and North Devon areas. This is a full-time or part time position that requires experience with SEN children and delivering Outdoor Education through forest school.
Key roles and responsibilities
· To lead a daily Forest School programme for up to approximately 12 children (you will require a suitable Level 3 forest school qualification) ensuring that the programme is well resourced, planned, is differentiated and offers an exciting and safe learning environment with an innovative scheme of work.
· To ensure that the forest school operation is managed under the framework of the school’s policies and procedures specifically risk management and health and safety.
· To assess and monitor the progress of children’s forest school skills and emotional development as they engage with the forest school programme and present this data half termly to the senior management team to be reviewed with all other progress data.
· To support and defuse challenging children’s verbal and physical behaviour in line with the training you have received
· Work with other outdoor teaching staff and LSAs to ensure that all sessions are well co-ordinated and managed.
Qualifications and Key Skills
· Relevant Forest School qualifications (Level 3 or above) & relevant experience.
· Experience with working with SEN children & or young adults
· Full driving licence, access to own transport and willing to travel
· Ability to use appropriate teaching styles
· Previous experience working in schools, leading sessions.
· An understanding of Health & Safety requirements and welfare issues of working with children
· Understanding and following of child Safeguarding procedures.
· Has energy and initiative
· Ability to work as part of a team.
· A high level of personal organization.
