Enfield Safety Supplies is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Technical Product Designer to lead the design and development of innovative safety products across our Fire Safety, Signage, and Height Safety ranges. This role is responsible for managing the full product lifecycle—from initial concept through to final market launch—ensuring all products meet regulatory standards, customer needs, and commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Product Design & Development
- Take new product concepts from idea through to final production.
- Identify opportunities for product improvements, innovation, and cost efficiencies.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to refine product specifications.
Technical Design & CAD Coordination
- Liaise with third-party CAD designers to produce accurate technical drawings and prototypes.
- Review and approve technical drawings to ensure they meet design intent and compliance requirements.
Testing & Compliance
- Oversee all technical testing to ensure products meet relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., fire safety, signage compliance, height safety certifications).
- Work with testing bodies and certification agencies where required.
- Maintain detailed technical documentation and compliance records.
Documentation & Labelling
- Develop clear and compliant product instructions, user manuals, and safety documentation.
- Ensure all product labelling meets legal and regulatory requirements.
Product Launch & Marketing Support
- Assist in the development of marketing materials, including product specifications, datasheets, and promotional content.
- Work closely with the marketing team to position products effectively in the market.
- Provide technical product knowledge to support sales teams and customers.
Project Management
- Manage multiple product development projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
- Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders including suppliers, designers, testing bodies, and internal teams.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in product design, product management, or a similar role (preferably within safety, industrial, or manufacturing sectors).
- Strong understanding of product development processes and lifecycle management.
- Experience working with CAD drawings and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of relevant safety standards and compliance requirements (desirable).
- Excellent project management and organisational skills.
- Strong problem-solving and innovation mindset.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent experience in Product Design, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Relevant certifications in safety standards or compliance (advantageous).
