WEPA Group will be recruiting both mechanical and electrical apprentices this year. The electrical apprenticeship is being promoted under a separate advert on Indeed so be sure to look out for that.
The role:
As a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice you will work on a wide range of mechanical and manufacturing systems and equipment, carrying out preventative maintenance, improving efficiency and safety, attending breakdowns and ensuring the manufacturing facilities run as efficiently as possible.

The Structure of the Apprenticeship
Dependant on the successful applicant, the apprenticeship will most likely be structured across 3 years
Year 1
- Attend the workplace 4 days per week to work on NVQ Level 3 Qualification in Engineering Maintenance.
- Essential Digital Literacy Skills Level 2.
- Attend college 1 day per week to continue to work on Level 3 Diploma in Engineering
- Complete additional training courses relevant to the engineering discipline of your apprenticeship.
Year 2
- Attend the workplace 4 days per week to continue with your NVQ Level 3 Qualification in Engineering Maintenance.
- Attend college 1 day per week to undertake a HNC in Engineering.
- Complete additional training courses relevant to the engineering discipline of your apprenticeship.
Year 3
- Complete your NVQ Level 3 Qualification in Engineering Maintenance in the workplace.
- Attend college 1 day per week to complete HNC in Engineering.
- Complete additional training courses relevant to the engineering discipline of your apprenticeship.
Salary
The salary for this position will be in line with National Minimum Wage legislation.
Year 1 will be aligned to the Apprentice National Minimum Wage and subsequent years will be aligned to National Minimum Wage for your age.

The successful applicant
The entry requirements for this apprenticeship are very specific:
- You MUST have completed at least one year a VRQ/BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Mechanical or Manufacturing engineering
- You MUST have completed at least 3 units of Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations (PEO)
- You will have a strong set of GCSE results, as a minimum you must have 5 GCSE’s with Maths, English and Sciences at Grade C or above
- You will be motivated to learn and have excellent discipline in the management of your learning and qualifications
- You will be a natural self-starter, taking ownership of your performance and reputation in the workplace
- You will have excellent self-discipline.
