Chew Valley RFC is one of the South West’s most ambitious and community-focused rugby clubs. With thriving men’s, women’s, girls’, junior and walking rugby sections, our clubhouse sits at the heart of everything we do.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Club Steward to lead the day-to-day operation of our clubhouse, bar and kitchen facilities and help deliver an outstanding experience for members, players, visitors and guests.
This is a unique opportunity to become a key member of the club’s leadership team and play an important role in the continued growth of the club.

THE ROLE
You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the clubhouse, ensuring the highest standards of hospitality, cleanliness, food service and customer experience.
Responsibilities include:
Bar & Clubhouse Operations
- Opening and closing the clubhouse
- Managing bar operations on match days and club events
- Stock control and ordering
- Supplier liaison and deliveries
- Cash handling and till reconciliation
Kitchen & Catering
- Preparing, reheating and serving food
- Maintaining food hygiene standards
- Managing kitchen cleanliness and compliance
- Supporting player meals and match day catering
Events & Functions
- Supporting club events and social functions
- Helping develop new revenue-generating events
- Assisting with private functions and bookings
Administration
- Basic administration and record keeping
- Invoice processing via Dext
- Liaison with club volunteers and committee members
TYPICAL WORKING PATTERN
The role is primarily evenings and weekends during the rugby season.
Monday: Day Off
Tuesday: Day Off
Wednesday: 2pm - 10pm
Thursday: 5pm - 10pm
Friday: Events as required
Saturday: Match Day Operations
Sunday: Junior Rugby and Club Activities
The role becomes significantly quieter during the off-season, allowing time for maintenance, planning and annual leave.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in hospitality, bar, catering or clubhouse environments
- Is organised and self-motivated
- Enjoys working with people
- Is comfortable managing their own workload
- Has strong customer service skills
- Can work evenings and weekends

Food Hygiene qualifications and experience managing stock or suppliers would be advantageous but are not essential.
