About the team:
We’re looking for a Credit Portfolio Manager to join our Credit Risk function, focusing on our Non Residential lending lines. Reporting directly to the Group Head of Credit Risk, you’ll be part of a small, specialist team responsible for maintaining strong oversight of credit risk across the Commercial, Development Finance, Bridging and Asset Finance portfolios.
You’ll work closely with colleagues in OSBI to source and shape the data and MI needed for effective portfolio oversight, acting as a key leader in developing credit‑risk capability and strengthening analytical skills across the team. As our specialist lending portfolios continue to grow and transformation progresses, you’ll play a central role in enhancing insight, improving processes and supporting the evolution of our risk framework across these more specialist portfolios and higher value exposures.
You’ll actively collaborate with stakeholders across the business to help keep portfolio performance robust, providing clear reporting, constructive challenge and insight to teams across Credit Risk, Underwriting, Product, Finance and Strategy.
This role is based from our Wolverhampton office and there maybe occasional travel to London and the South of the UK.
What you will be doing?:
As Credit Portfolio Manager you’ll provide high‑quality quantitative and qualitative analysis, insight and challenge to ensure credit performance is well understood, monitored and managed in line with the Group’s risk appetite, lending strategy, policy framework and regulatory expectations. You’ll identify emerging risks, assess portfolio performance, contribute to credit governance, and regularly provide evidence‑based recommendations to senior management and the Group Credit Committee.
Your responsibilities will include:

Monitor portfolio performance across Commercial, Development Finance, Bridging, Asset Finance the Groups larger exposures, analysing key credit risk indicators and identifying emerging risks.

Deliver deep‑dive reviews into specific segments, products or cohorts to understand drivers of deterioration and emerging idiosyncratic and sectoral risks.

Support risk appetite and policy oversight by reviewing limits, informing lending criteria changes and escalating areas of concern.

Produce high‑quality reporting and commentary for senior management, risk committees and governance forums, ensuring clarity, accuracy and focus on material risks.

Engage and challenge stakeholders across Risk, Underwriting, Product, Legal and Modelling to ensure strong risk discipline and informed decision‑making.

Contribute to stress testing, scenario analysis and forecasting, assessing sensitivity to macroeconomic and credit risk drivers.

Support development of risk actions where performance deteriorates or emerging risks are identified.

Maintain strong governance through clear documentation, adherence to risk and data policies, and consistent application of credit risk standards.

Strong commercial credit expertise across real‑estate‑backed lending (Commercial, Semi‑Commercial, Bridging, Development Finance, Asset Finance) and core credit risk drivers such as debt service, LTV, liquidity, arrears and loss performance.

Advanced analytical capability including Excel proficiency, trend identification and the ability to interpret and extrapolate portfolio data into practical recommendations.

Clear and influential communication with strong written and verbal skills, able to engage and challenge stakeholders constructively.

Robust risk and regulatory awareness including understanding of relevant frameworks and UK mortgage regulations (e.g., MCOB).

High attention to detail and sound judgement supporting effective decision‑making and strong credit‑risk discipline.
