Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating various machinery, ensuring precision in fabrication processes, and maintaining high safety standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical background and experience in fabrication, CAD, and materials handling to contribute ito our production objectives efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor a range of manufacturing machinery, including milling machines and other fabrication equipment.
- Set up machines using appropriate tooling and ensure proper calibration for each production run.
- Use programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to control machine functions and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and CAD files, including SolidWorks models, to facilitate accurate fabrication.
- Perform basic maintenance, cleaning, and inspection of equipment to ensure optimal operation.
- Handle materials safely, including loading, unloading, and organising raw materials and finished products within the warehouse environment.
- Assist with assembly tasks when required, ensuring components meet quality standards.
- Utilise hand tools effectively for minor repairs or adjustments on machinery or fabricated parts.
- Apply basic maths skills to measure dimensions accurately and calculate quantities needed for production.
- Follow health and safety protocols diligently to maintain a safe working environment at all times.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fabrication, machining, or manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and their application in automation processes.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar programmes.
- Experience with milling machines, tooling setup, welding, and general assembly work.
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and materials handling equipment safely.
- Basic maths skills for measurements and calculations related to production tasks.
- Previous warehouse experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure quality standards are met consistently.
