We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join our well‑established, nurse‑led Occupational Health Service in the role of Band 6 Occupational Health Adviser.

Previous experience in Occupational Health is desirable but not essential, as comprehensive training and development will be provided to support the successful candidate. We are keen to hear from nurses and allied health professionals with strong transferable clinical skills who are motivated to develop a career in Occupational Health.

This is a varied, impactful role where you will use your clinical judgement and communication skills expertise to make a real difference to staff health and wellbeing every day.

As a Band 6 Occupational Health Adviser, you will play a key role in delivering a high‑quality, person‑centred Occupational Health service that supports the health, safety and wellbeing of our workforce.

With structured support, supervision and development you will:

Undertake management and self‑referral assessments, providing clear, practical advice
Assess fitness for work and recommend reasonable adjustments
Support staff experiencing long‑term and short‑term sickness absence
Contribute to vaccination, immunisation and health surveillance programmes
Support the management of work‑related health risks, including body fluid exposures
Work collaboratively with managers, human resource and staff representatives
Contribute to service development, audit and clinical governance
Support and mentor colleagues and learners as your experience develops

This is a varied and largely autonomous role, offering a diverse caseload and the opportunity to further develop confidence and expertise in Occupational Health practice, with no two days being the same.

The post holder will work within a skill mixed team as an autonomous practitioner to support the prevention of ill health; protect health and promote the wellbeing of people in their workplaces ensuring a healthy balance between work and wellbeing.

Work collaboratively with the team to plan and deliver a safe, effective, and high quality Occupational Health service.
Identify health needs through comprehensive assessment in partnership with clients, developing and delivering individual programmes of care and delegating appropriately.
Use and analyse data effectively, combining specialist Occupational Health expertise with a broader understanding of the Occupational Health sector to support and embed health improvement.
Champion workplace health and wellbeing strategies that recognise the impact of health on work and the value of good work to health.
Recognise and value workforce diversity by applying person centred approaches that meet the needs of a varied population.
