We are looking for an experienced Radiographer or Technologist to work in our Nuclear Medicine department at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, in a fixed term 10 month contract for maternity cover. This will provide an opportunity to join us in a state-of-art Nuclear Medicine department. You will ensure a high-quality service administering radiopharmaceuticals and performing Nuclear Medicine scans, including PET-CT. You will be supported by senior Technologists, Consultants, management, and dedicated Physics and Admin staff.
You will be expected to have technical expertise as well as good clinical knowledge. You will be capable of responding to challenges and working cooperatively as part of a large MDT. As a senior Technologist or Radiographer you will help ensure effective day-to-day operations of the service. You need to be resourceful and innovative to ensure prompt service delivery and timely care to our patients, and maintain good relationships with colleagues.
We see a wide range of patients of all ages and perform a variety of clinical studies, including cardiac, paediatric and PET-CT. The service currently runs Monday-Friday but is expanding to encompass weekend working. Some work at our satellite department in Haywards Heath is required. This role would suit a dynamic individual who is looking to broaden their experience and to make a positive contribution to the future development of UHSussex Nuclear Medicine.
The post holder will undertake clinical work in a highly specialised area which requires consideration of the risks associated with working with ionising radiation and infection control. The person needs to possess the empathy and skills to help patients through difficult and complex procedures.
Assess patient referrals, manage care, safely prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, and scan patients.
The post holder will be required to perform image processing and produce results to the highest technical standards.
May be required to supervise Technologists/radiographers and support staff.
To support the Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist, PET-CT Superintendent, and Lead Superintendent and to work collaboratively with other clinical colleagues to provide an efficient and effective service.
To work within regulatory frameworks and follow all Local Rules and Standard Operating Procedures designed to ensure a safe working environment in accordance with Health and Safety legislation and associated regulations.
To work in all Nuclear Medicine departments and weekend and evening duties as required.
