Full job description

We're looking for an Assistant Design Manager to join our Southern Water Services team based in Falmer, Brighton / Chatham, Kent / Chichester, West Sussex.

Location: Falmer, Brighton / Chatham, Kent / Chichester, West Sussex
Hours: 40 hours per week - 3 days a week are expected to be in the office or on a site location.

Join our team supporting engineering design delivery on exciting water and wastewater projects as part of Southern Water's £3.1bn Strategic Development Partnership Framework. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that enhances water safety, quality, and resilience across the region, serving millions of households. You'll be part of a collaborative environment where your skills and ideas will help shape sustainable solutions for our communities.

What will you be responsible for?

As an Assistant Design Manager, you'll be working within the Southern Water Services team, supporting them in delivering engineering design excellence across water and wastewater projects. Your day to day will include:

Supporting the management of engineering design delivery for assigned projects, ensuring quality and compliance
Collaborating with engineering teams and design consultants to develop technically sound and economically efficient solutions
Contributing to Engineering Project Plans covering scope, schedule, cost, risk, and resources
Working with project teams to identify opportunities for innovation, affordability, and sustainable design
Supporting compliance with CDM Regulations and managing design-related health and safety considerations

What are we looking for?

This role of Assistant Design Manager is great for you if:

You're working towards a professional qualification (Chartered Engineer) with a degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience
You have relevant engineering design, construction, and management experience
You possess excellent communication skills and can explain complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences
You're passionate about environmental improvement and driving technical innovation
You hold a Full driving licence
