Contract: Full-time, Permanent 10:00am – 6:00pm
About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Production Scheduler & Transport Planner to join our operations team. This key role is responsible for coordinating production schedules and transport plans to ensure the efficient flow of materials, timely delivery of finished goods, and optimal use of resources.
Working closely with production, logistics, purchasing and sales teams, you will play a vital part in meeting customer demand while maintaining cost efficiency and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Production Scheduling
- Create, maintain, and optimise production schedules to meet demand and delivery deadlines
- Monitor production progress and make adjustments to minimise delays and downtime
- Liaise with sales, procurement and warehouse teams to ensure material availability
- Analyse capacity, lead times, and production constraints to improve efficiency
Transport Planning
- Plan and coordinate daily and weekly transport schedules for outbound deliveries
- Select appropriate transport methods to ensure cost-effective and timely deliveries
- Manage changes to delivery requirements and resolve transport-related issues
- Ensure compliance with transport legislation, safety, and company procedures
General
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and KPIs relating to production and transport performance
- Communicate clearly with internal teams
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across scheduling and logistics processes
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in production planning, scheduling, or transport planning
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Confident communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally
- Proficient in planning systems and Microsoft Excel (ERP/MRP experience desirable)
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
Desirable
- Experience within a steel manufacturing, production, or distribution environment
- Knowledge of logistics or transport regulations
