Assistant Manager – Oowee Diner

North Street, Bristol
£14.50-£15ph depending on experience | Full-time | 40-45 hours

Oowee is a Bristol-born independent restaurant brand known for next-level burgers, dirty fries and shakes.

We’re looking for an experienced Assistant Manager to help lead our flagship North Street restaurant. This is an opportunity for a confident restaurant operator who knows how to run a great shift, bring the best out of a team and deliver consistently high standards.

You’ll work closely with the General Manager as their second-in-command, taking real ownership of the restaurant’s day-to-day operation. When you’re leading the shift, the team will look to you to set the pace, make good decisions and keep everything running smoothly.

What the role looks like

You will:

Lead busy shifts confidently from open to close, across both kitchen and customer-facing operations delivering exceptional customer experience every time.
Support the General Manager with rotas, labour planning and the day-to-day running of the restaurant
Coach, develop and motivate the team, setting clear expectations and leading from the front
Make sure Oowee’s kitchen, service and operational processes are followed consistently
Deliver excellent food, fast service and a genuinely positive customer experience
Maintain high standards of food safety, health and safety, cleanliness and compliance
Support stock control, ordering, waste management and other key restaurant controls
Help recruit, onboard and train new team members
Handle customer feedback professionally and resolve issues with confidence
Look for practical ways to improve the restaurant, the team and the way we work
Step up and take full responsibility for the restaurant when the General Manager is away

What we’re looking for

You’ll already have management experience in a busy restaurant, quick-service or high-volume hospitality environment.

You understand the operational side of running a successful restaurant—including rotas, labour, stock, service standards and compliance—but you’re equally strong with people.

You’ll be someone who:

Leads with confidence and earns the respect of the team
Stays calm, organised and decisive when service gets busy
Holds high standards without losing the human touch
Gives clear feedback and enjoys helping people improve
Takes ownership instead of waiting to be told what to do
Understands what excellent customer service looks like
Is commercially aware and comfortable working with restaurant targets
Is hands-on, dependable and flexible across evenings and weekends
Wants to keep learning and progressing
