The Opportunity
We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-driven Cost Management Accountant with expertise in standard costing to join our finance team. Reporting directly to the Group Finance Director, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape cost visibility and enhance financial performance across our manufacturing operations.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams including production, operations, commercial, and on-site finance, playing a vital role in supporting strategic decision-making and driving cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust standard costing systems.
- Determine and regularly review standard costs across all product lines.
- Perform detailed variance analysis (actual vs. standard) and identify key drivers.
- Ensure accurate SKU-level costing to support margin analysis and profitability.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to optimise cost efficiency.
- Support stock valuation processes, ensuring alignment with costing models.
- Develop and refine cost accounting policies and procedures.
- Produce insightful cost reports and present findings to senior management.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or part-qualified with strong relevant experience).
- 3–5 years’ experience in management accounting, ideally within FMCG or food manufacturing.
- Strong background in cost accounting, product costing, and variance analysis.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups; macros desirable).
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g. Sage, SAP, Access).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage non-finance stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Desirable
- Experience within food manufacturing or supply chain finance.
- Knowledge of sustainability costing or waste reduction initiatives.
- Familiarity with Power BI or other data visualisation tools.
