About this role
We are looking for a collaborative, forward thinking Protective Security Compliance Delivery Manager to join our Student and Campus Life service. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape how the University meets its commitments under the Terrorism Protection and Premises Act 2025 (Martyn’s Law), while championing safe, inclusive and welcoming campuses for our whole community.
About you
In this senior professional post, you will lead strategic security and compliance projects that enhance the safety, resilience, and consistency of our campus operations. Working in partnership with colleagues across the University, you will support the Head of Campus Support to deliver high impact, institution wide improvements aligned to our strategic priorities and statutory duties.
This role is rooted in collaboration and influence. You will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders — including Estates & Commercial Services, Governance & Legal Services, Finance, Health & Safety, Safeguarding, and the Vice-Chancellor’s Executive — to shape policy, strengthen compliance, and embed new approaches and processes across teams.
Your work will ensure that UWE Bristol remains proactive, well prepared, and informed as external requirements continue to evolve.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading strategic compliance and safety projects, ensuring delivery within agreed timeframes.
- Acting as the University’s subject matter expert on the Terrorism Protection and Premises Act 2025, including influencing senior leaders by providing expert updates, insights and analysis.
- Working with colleagues across Colleges and Services to develop and implement requirements, including policies, risk assessments, emergency planning and compliance measures.
- Supporting the development and delivery of training to enable teams to operate confidently within compliance frameworks.
- Contributing to governance forums and wider institutional projects, representing Campus Support with professionalism and credibility.
- Maintaining an externally focused and proactive outlook, actively horizon‑scanning across the HE and protective security sector to identify emerging risks, regulatory expectations, and best‑practice insights, translating these into actionable improvements for organisational compliance and resilience.
What we’re looking for
- Brings experience from a complex organisation and has strong knowledge of security, protective risk, compliance or counter‑terrorism contexts.
- Has exceptional communication skills, with the confidence to engage, influence and collaborate with stakeholders both internally and externally at all levels.
- Thrives in a matrix environment and enjoys working across teams to achieve shared goals.
- Can translate regulation into practical implementation plans and help others understand what this means for their work.
- Values inclusive practice and contributes to a culture where colleagues and students feel safe, respected and able to succeed.
