About the Role:
Bristol is one of the UK’s key hubs for engineering, logistics, and industrial innovation, and at Minda Engineering & Farm Solutions Ltd, we bring that same level of precision and ambition to the agricultural machinery sector. We design, maintain, and optimise high-performance farm and heavy equipment solutions that keep modern agriculture moving.
We are looking for a Head of Engineering & Operations (Agricultural Machinery Division) to take full ownership of our engineering function across workshop, field service, and technical operations. This is a senior leadership role where you will not just manage teams—you will define operational standards, drive engineering excellence, and shape the long-term direction of the business.
You will lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams, oversee service delivery performance, and act as the key link between technical operations, commercial teams, and customers. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in fast-moving, practical engineering environments.
Why Work With Us?
Leadership Impact: You will have direct influence over engineering strategy, processes, and service quality from day one. Your decisions will shape how we scale across the UK.
Hands-On Industry: This is not a purely corporate leadership role—you will stay close to machinery, field operations, and real engineering challenges.
Growth Opportunity: As the business expands, this role is positioned as a pathway toward Operations Director or Technical Director level.
Autonomy & Trust: We value practical leadership and problem-solving over bureaucracy. You will be trusted to run your division with minimal red tape.
Modern Operational Approach: We focus on efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement across workshop and field service operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Leadership: Oversee workshop and field service engineering teams responsible for agricultural and heavy machinery maintenance, repair, and diagnostics.
Operational Management: Manage day-to-day engineering operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery, efficiency, and safety compliance.
Service Performance: Define and monitor KPIs across turnaround times, equipment uptime, and customer satisfaction.
Technical Oversight: Provide expert input on complex mechanical, hydraulic, and engine-related issues.
Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop engineers, technicians, and field service staff.
Process Improvement: Implement lean processes and continuous improvement strategies across engineering workflows.
Budget & Resource Control: Manage operational budgets, parts procurement, and resource allocation.
Customer & Commercial Support: Work closely with sales and account teams to provide technical expertise and tailored engineering solutions.
Compliance: Ensure all engineering activities meet UK safety, environmental, and machinery regulations.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience: 8–12+ years in agricultural machinery, plant equipment, heavy engineering, or field service operations, with significant leadership experience.
Leadership Background: Proven experience managing engineering teams, workshop operations, or multi-site technical services.
Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, mechanical systems, diagnostics, and repair workflows.
Industry Exposure: Experience with agricultural or construction machinery (e.g., Kubota, JCB, John Deere, or similar) is highly desirable.
Operational Mindset: Strong ability to balance hands-on technical problem-solving with strategic leadership.
Decision-Making: Comfortable taking ownership of operational performance and driving accountability across teams.
Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, management, and customers.
Pay: £72,763.52-£92,002.06 per year
