This is an exciting opportunity to join a business at the forefront of defence, aerospace and engineering, where information security plays a vital role in protecting people, projects and national capabilities. You'll be part of a collaborative security team, helping to strengthen governance, compliance and risk management practices while supporting the delivery of critical programmes that make a real difference.

The role

As an Information Security Advisor, you'll support governance, risk and compliance activities across Mission Systems, working closely with the Information Security Manager to promote best practice, improve security awareness and help build a positive security culture. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in information security, cyber governance, risk management or compliance within a purpose-driven organisation.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
Supporting the ongoing alignment of the Information Security Management System and ISO 27001 certification requirements
Lead on coordinating, managing, and running the internal audit programme in support of the Information Security Management System
Tracking audit findings and driving timely follow-up actions and remediation activities
Assisting with security training, education and awareness initiatives across the business
Providing guidance on information security risks, policies, documentation and Information Asset Owner responsibilities

The role is 37 hours per week, and is based at our Ashton Vale, Bristol Site. Hybrid working patterns are available, and some travel to other Babcock sites may be required.

Essential experience of the Information Security Advisor

Experience working within an information security, governance, risk, compliance or IT environment
Exposure to structured governance frameworks such as ISO 27001 or similar compliance standards
Understanding of core information security principles, including risk awareness and data handling practices
Experience maintaining accurate records, documentation and compliance-related information
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively

Qualifications for the Information Security Advisor

Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISMP, ISO27001 foundation) would be advantageous but not essential

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
