Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our Private Client team based in Bristol. Initially, the role would be to cover maternity leave, but for the right candidate, there is the potential for it to become permanent. The successful candidate will support a partner with a variety of administrative and legal tasks and join a tight-knit existing team. Prior experience in a Private Client team is preferred, but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Duties
- Assist with preparing legal documents (such as Lasting Powers of Attorney, Wills, IHT400 forms and Court of Protection application forms), reports, and correspondence
- Conduct research and analyse legal information
- Manage and organise case files, including managing (under supervision) your own probate files
- Liaise with clients, courts, and other external organisations to coordinate appointments and gather information
- Provide exceptional client service by addressing client enquiries professionally and promptly
- Maintain calendars for court dates, deadlines, and meetings to ensure timely submissions
- Perform administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing correspondence
Skills
- Strong analytical skills to interpret legal documents and information effectively
- Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple cases simultaneously with attention to detail
- Proven client service experience to interact professionally with clients and external stakeholders
- Previous administrative experience within a legal environment is highly desirable
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced setting
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal research tools is advantageous

About the Team
You would be joining a friendly and welcoming team, who support the Partner, Helen Calcutt, in a range of Private Client matters. The days are varied and interesting, with a lot of scope for contact with clients and managing your own caseload, as well as progression.
