The Bristol Care Group is an Ofsted Outstanding organisation with roots firmly grounded in the success of our alternative learning provision. Building on the positive impact of our first therapeutic children’s home, we are now expanding and opening additional homes to support children who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and who present with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

Therapeutic Practitioner – Trauma-Informed Role Profile

We aim to create a culture defined by curiosity, connection, stability, and therapeutic presence, ensuring that every child and young person has the opportunity to grow, develop, and achieve their full potential. Our practitioners are central to this mission.

We are seeking Casual Therapeutic Practitioners who bring empathy, patience, resilience, and a reflective approach to supporting children and young people. You will work as part of a therapeutic team, modelling attuned responses, offering co-regulation, and providing consistent care that promotes healing and emotional wellbeing.

The successful candidates will value meaningful relationships, show creativity in supporting young people, and feel confident working through moments of emotional complexity. You will follow structured, trauma-informed procedures that promote safety, predictability, and stability in the home.

Purpose of the Role

● To support the emotional, social, physical and developmental needs of young people through consistent, trauma-informed, relationship-based care.
● To work as an integrated part of the team, contributing to a nurturing and safe environment that promotes healing, resilience and growth.
● To build trusting, therapeutic relationships with young people, acting as a stable and attuned adult in their lives.
● To contribute to care planning, keywork, reflective discussions and therapeutic activities designed to support positive outcomes.
● To follow robust safeguarding procedures and uphold the highest standards of care and emotional safety.

Essential Skills & Experience

● NVQ3/QCF Level 3 in Children & Young People, Residential Childcare or equivalent (or willingness to work towards).
● Experience of supporting children or young people with complex needs, trauma, or behaviours that challenge.
● Compassionate, patient, and emotionally resilient approach.
● Ability to build safe, trusting, and attuned relationships with young people.
● Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals.
● Good verbal and written communication skills across a range of contexts.
● Ability to maintain accurate, clear, and meaningful records in line with statutory requirements.
● Commitment to ongoing learning, reflective practice, and therapeutic development.
● Understanding of safeguarding principles and a willingness to follow structured procedures.
● Ability to work shifts.
● Strong interpersonal skills, team spirit, and a willingness to engage in reflective practice.
● Good IT skills.
● Full manual driving licence (essential).
