Full job description

The role has a base rate of £12.94 per hour, in addition to a competitive TRONC package based on earnings split across the team.

Ah Ma's Dumplings are recruiting for our Dim Sum restaurant; Clouds, based in St Werburgh's, Bristol. We are searching for an experienced Second Line Chef (or Commis Chef), to join our growing team.

We are a small, but well-established independent business with a passion for producing incredible, nourishing food. We use quality, organic and free-range produce and extend our ethically and environmentally-lead principles across the business. We love our products and dishes, and love people enjoying them.

The position will be integral to the day-to-day running of the restaurant and will work alongside the Founder/Executive Chef and our Pass Chefs. We are looking for someone to be part of a kind and supportive team; enjoy a fun fast paced work environment; be part of the growth and development of a Bristol institution.

There will be opportunities for development in other areas of the business - Ah-Ma’s has a busy prep kitchen, a markets & events operation, and plans to expand our catering and takeaway business. We understand you have a life outside of work and a career trajectory that we want to help you with - we want to make sure that our staff are supported to become the people they want to be.

The ideal candidate would:

- have experience as a 2nd/Second Line Chef, Commis Chef, or similar role supporting a senior chef

- experience in food preparation

- be meticulous, proactive and well-organised

- be a good communicator and adaptable

- be keen to learn and work in a fast-paced environment

- be a team player with a positive attitude

- be able to follow precise instructions and deliver consistency

- looking to be part of a growing business that encompasses all parts of the industry (catering, events, food production)

Desirable:

- have familiarity with Cantonese cuisine and dim sum (a plus but not essential)

Duties and responsibilities will include:

- cooking, plating and preparing dishes

- assisting with managing the flow of dishes from the kitchen

- liaise with the central kitchen to help manage weekly prep schedules and support in preparation for both restaurant service and external events

- ensuring kitchen and equipment is cleaned, tidied and maintained
