Senior Hair Stylist / Hair Artist Employed PAYE Position | Base Salary + Service & Retail Commission + Bonuses | Bristol
JamesB Hair is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced stylist to join our team in Bedminster, Bristol.
This is an employed PAYE position with a strong basic salary, commission and bonus opportunities. We are looking for someone who wants the security of employment, the support of a team, and the opportunity to build a busy, successful column without the pressure of rent-a-chair, self-employed admin, or having to do everything alone.
We are a gender-neutral, judgement-free salon based in the heart of the Bedminster community, just outside Bristol’s Clean Air Zone. We have a large established client base, strong demand, and a waiting list for services, so we are now expanding the team to meet that demand.
At JamesB Hair, we believe good hairdressing happens when stylists feel supported, valued and able to grow. We work as a team, communicate properly, share knowledge, and create a salon experience that feels welcoming, professional and genuinely empowering for our clients.
Our culture is creative, inclusive and warm. We’re a team with interests across music, queer culture, food, creativity and having fun while we work — but always with a professional, hardworking approach. The right person does not need to fit a stereotype. You might be bold and alternative, calm and introverted, chatty and outgoing, highly technical, quietly creative, or somewhere in between. What matters is that you care about your clients, your craft, your standards and your team.
About the role
As a Senior Stylist / Hair Artist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality hairdressing services, creating excellent guest experiences, and managing a productive column with support from the salon.
You will work with clients from consultation through to finished result, giving professional advice, managing expectations, creating beautiful hair, and encouraging strong rebooking and client retention.
You will also play an important role within the team by supporting junior team members, sharing knowledge, contributing to the salon’s standards, and helping create a positive working environment.
This role would suit an experienced stylist who is confident working a full column and wants to grow within a structured, supportive, employed salon environment.
An existing clientele is a strong advantage, but it is not essential. We have demand, marketing and admin support in place to help the right person build.

You do not need to be perfect at everything. We are more interested in someone with the right attitude, strong foundations, and the desire to keep developing.
Hours and working pattern
The salon is open Tuesday to Saturday.
- Flexible hours considered for the right candidate
- Full-time and strong part-time applicants considered
We want the role to work for the business, the team and the right stylist, so we are open to discussing the best fit.
