Job Title: Chartered Tax Advisor
Company: HealthcareAccountants.co.uk
Location: Slough
Salary Range: Competitive
Employment Type: Full-time
Reporting To: Practice Manager/ UK-based Director
About HealthcareAccountants.co.uk
HealthcareAccountants.co.uk is a UK-based specialist accountancy practice focused on serving healthcare professionals — including doctors, dentists, pharmacists, and medical consultants. Our mission is to deliver high-quality accounting, tax, and advisory services that help clients stay compliant, manage their finances efficiently, and grow their practices sustainably.
Role Overview
We are expanding our onshore operations and are seeking an experienced Chartered Tax Advisor to join our UK based team.
We are looking for a qualified Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) to join our expert team. You will take ownership of a portfolio of dental and healthcare clients — managing their tax compliance end-to-end, delivering proactive advisory work, and acting as their trusted financial partner.
Unlike a generalist practice, every client you work with will be a dental or healthcare professional. You will build deep sector knowledge, understanding the nuances of NHS and private income, associate structures, incorporation decisions, and NHS pension tax implications that are unique to this client group.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance
- Prepare and review self-assessment tax returns for dental professionals including practice owners, associate dentists, and hygienists
- Manage client tax affairs across all income types: NHS, private, property, savings, investments, and overseas income
- Calculate and advise on tax liabilities accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring 100% HMRC compliance
- Handle HMRC correspondence, enquiries, and portal submissions on behalf of clients
- Prepare corporate tax returns (CT600) for incorporated dental practices
Tax Advisory & Planning
- Advise clients on the tax implications of incorporation — sole trader vs. limited company structures for dental practices
- Provide guidance on tax-efficient use of company cars, home office allowances, equipment purchases, and other dental practice expenditures
- Advise on the most tax-efficient payroll structures including directors' salary and dividend strategies
- Support clients with pension planning, including the complexities of the NHS pension scheme and annual/lifetime allowance issues
- Advise on property tax matters relevant to dental professionals who are landlords or investing in practice premises
- Guide clients on Capital Gains Tax (CGT) implications of practice sales, share transfers, and asset disposals
- Advise on Inheritance Tax (IHT) planning and succession for dental practice owners
Client Management
- Act as a dedicated, named point of contact for your client portfolio — delivering the personalised, responsive service Healthcare Accountants is known for
- Conduct one-to-one consultations (video or in person) to discuss tax plans, present returns, and explain financial outcomes in plain English
- Proactively identify and communicate tax-saving opportunities to clients before year-end deadlines
- Participate in monthly client catch-up meetings and support onboarding of new clients onto our platform
- Maintain prompt communication standards — clients expect responses 7 days a week, 7am to 7pm
Bookkeeping, Accounts & Payroll Oversight
- Liaise with the bookkeeping and payroll team to ensure accurate underlying records before tax filings
- Support delivery of business coaching outputs, including cashflow templates and business planning for practice owners
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure all work meets HMRC standards and reflects our guarantee of full tax optimisation for every client
- Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation relevant to healthcare and dental professionals, including NHS regulation changes
- Maintain accurate client files on our secure digital platform

- ACCA/ CIMA / ACA part-qualified or qualified.
