The company was formed in 1986 with the aim of bringing a fresh approach to Building Services Engineering. JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for ambitious career orientated permanent senior electrical or above engineers to join our dynamic growing team in London. Ideally candidates will have at least 10 years mainstream UK design consultancy experience across multiple construction sectors. No ‘glass ceilings’ and every opportunity for career advancement.
- Responsible for acting as a project engineer on individual projects across all building sectors including :-
- Ultimate responsibility for financial control (Project ie Tender Thru To Final Account Agreement) and Fee Control Expenditure & Reporting
- Responsibility for Resource & Management
- Internal coordination of all services and disciplines and having a general understanding of the opposing electrical (or Mechanical) services
- Administration
- Programming
- Client Liaison
Responsible as acting as a leader of the Mechanical (or Electrical) section, including taking responsibility for the

- Design Quality & Compliance with TLP Standards

- Liaison with other members of the team to ensure targets are achieved
Responsible for managing a selection of client accounts and carrying out Business Development activities on behalf of the MEP section.
Work within the TLP Health and Safety Policy and Environmental Policy
Follow all TLP QA Procedures & Guidelines
Have a good working knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (WORD / EXCEL / POWER POINT / TEAMS / ONE NOTE along with other engineering software as required) and ensure that all equipment provided is maintained and software fully up to date at all times
Willingness to work a flexible schedule involving travel throughout the United Kingdom and Europe, and be in possession of a valid passport and EU recognised full driving licence
Maintain a valid CSCS Card

2. PROJECT COORDINATION
Responsible for coordinating allocated projects
The required standards of performance are attained in the above when:-
- All agreed deadlines are achieved on time.
- When constraints occur which may cause the project to overrun key deadlines a plan of action is developed to ensure that this problem is overcome.
- The activities of all personnel involved in the project are co-ordinated so as to ensure the efficient implementation of the project.
- Coordinate with other members of the TLP design Team ie Mechanical (or Electrical), Building Physics or REVIT / CAD.
- The Engineer prepares an up to date progress statement of all current Projects under their control for Project Review meetings with the Project Director.
3. DESIGN
Responsible for the overall design work of allocated projects that will include particular responsibility for the Electrical (or Mechanical) Services and the co-ordination of all other Services as applicable.
The required standards of performance are attained in the above when: -
- All design work is carried out to the required standards of accuracy with specific regard to the TLP Quality Assurance & Design Guides along with appropriate statutory regulations and codes of practice.
- The Engineer constantly seeks to adopt the most up to date practices and to be innovative in their application and approach to Building Services Engineering
- The Engineer ensures that they are fully conversant with the relevant aspects of the design of the Projects under their control and co-ordinates this work to the required standard.
- The Engineer provides training and support to Graduates / Junior / Trainee Engineers and new staff.
4. RESOURCE MANAGMENT
Responsible for planning and managing allocated resources to ensure the satisfactory staffing of projects.
The required standards of performance are attained in the above when: -
- A plan of project resources is developed at the commencement of each project and agreed.
- Resource plans are updated and agreed when project requirements change.
- An up to date project resource utilisation is prepared for the Project Director.
- Allocated staff and the Building Physics / CAD Manager are briefed regularly in advance of planned work commitments and targets.
- The Engineer contributes to the management of the Electrical (or Mechanical) work resources within TLP
5. MARKETING
Responsible for developing and maintaining good working relationships with clients to ensure long-term business partnerships.
The required standards of performance are attained in the above when: -
- Clients are satisfied with the levels of performance and quality of service provided.
- Client’s concerns and problems are acted upon and resolved in a prompt, efficient and courteous manner.
- Good working relationships are established and maintained, and the Client’s current and future needs are assessed and acted upon.
- Seeks opportunities for appointments to gain new and profitable business.
6. COST MANAGEMENT
Responsible for managing Project costs and profitability and updating Director on fee status.
The required standards of performance are attained in the above when: -
- The Project Director is informed on a monthly basis of the status of each project.
- Project costs are constantly monitored and controlled so as to maximise profit potential.
- Provides fee proposals for new and ongoing projects
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are based on a normal office environment
Work will require travel
Work may require evening / weekend work from time to time
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
The Senior Engineers Key Performance Indicators are :-
- Project Profitability & Tracking is >15%
- New Business is targeted
- Abortive work is minimised.
- Deadlines - Ensure all deadlines are met on time including other disciplines in relation to target dates
- Projects proceed in a logical sequence and designs are based on sound concepts, which meet the client’s requirements
- CPD Records are recorded and maintained
- Updates on changes in legislation are communicated to the rest of the TLP Team
- Existing clients are retained and new business developed
- Timesheet Submission - Completed in a timely manner and kept up to date
- Expense Submission - Submitted in a timely manner and kept up to date (No later than 1 working week after end of month)
- Ensure Intermediate & Junior / Graduate Engineers complete Timesheet & Expense claims in a timely manner
- Software Usage - All software systems are fully utilised to ensure full communication between all departments ie MONDAY

Liaise with company CAD team with respect to management of drawing delivery
