Full job description

Julia’s House is your local children’s hospice, providing specialist care to children with life-limiting and complex conditions and supporting their families, giving them all a chance to have the magical moments and memories every child and family deserves.

Our amazing nurses and carers bring clinical care, fun, laughter and compassion to the children they support. And we give exhausted parents a much-needed respite break from around the clock care, with the peace of mind their child is in safe hands.

Julia’s House, the Dorset and Wiltshire Children’s Hospice charity is seeking volunteers to help out at its friendly shop in Poole, Dorset

The charity’s shops rely on volunteers throughout the week, and are looking for volunteers to help in our stock room to process all the donations and prepare them for the shop floor, and for support on the till.

Sort Room Support (18+)

We are currently seeking volunteers to help behind the scenes in our stock room. This role includes:

Processing donated items
Steaming and tagging clothing
Preparing stock for the shop floor

Your support helps keep the shop running smoothly and directly contributes to the care we provide.

Cash Desk volunteer:

Serving customers at the till with a smile
Providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere
Handling purchases and answering questions
Supporting the team to keep the shop running smoothly

When We Need You

We are looking for support throughout the week, Monday to Saturda, with the following typical shifts:

Monday to Saturday: 9am – 1pm or 1pm-5pm
Sunday: 10am – 1pm or 1pm-4pm

We understand everyone’s availability is different, so we are happy to be flexible. Even a few hours each week can make a huge difference.

No previous experience is required, as full training will be provided. We are looking for volunteers who are:

Friendly and reliable
Willing to learn
Able to work independently
Keen to be part of a supportive team
