Captain’s Club Hotel & Spa is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Wedding & Events Manager to join our growing team and lead our small Events team.
Previous experience within events and hospitality is desirable, together with a positive personality and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional guest service. Experience in event planning and coordination would be a great advantage.
We are a stunning AA 4 Silver Star, 2 AA Rosette boutique hotel, with 29 bedrooms overlooking the beautiful River Stour in Christchurch. The unique atmosphere and setting of the hotel make us hugely popular with locals, as well as corporate and leisure guests looking to relax and enjoy fantastic surroundings.

The Role
As Wedding & Events Manager, you will oversee all weddings and events at the hotel, while leading and supporting our Events team. You will be responsible for managing the full event journey, from the initial enquiry through to contract and operational handover, ensuring every event delivers an exceptional experience for our guests and meets the commercial objectives of the hotel.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all weddings and events, providing positive leadership and support to the Events team.
- Manage reactive sales and enquiries from the initial enquiry through to contract and operational handover.
- Take responsibility for large and complex enquiries, communicating with clients by telephone, email and face-to-face meetings.
- Understand customer needs and recommend the appropriate hotel facilities, features and services to exceed expectations.
- Sell effectively in line with the business and operational strategy of the hotel.
- Create accurate quotations and proposals based on individual customer requirements.
- Conduct regular follow-up calls and meetings to identify changing requirements and convert enquiries into confirmed bookings.
- Issue contracts and ensure a smooth and accurate handover to the operational teams.
- Keep all function sheets, event information and relevant documentation accurate and up to date, liaising closely with the wider hotel team.
- Conduct professional and engaging show rounds, showcasing the hotel and its facilities to prospective wedding and event clients.
- Maintain excellent administration and organisational standards, ensuring accuracy across contracts, table plans, place cards, event details and other documentation.
- Conduct post-event calls to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels, identify opportunities for improvement and secure repeat business.
- Build long-term partnerships with new and repeat customers, developing strong relationships and encouraging loyalty to the hotel and company.
- Identify potential opportunities for the wider business and ensure these are passed to the appropriate team.
- Take responsibility for direct reports, providing positive leadership, coaching and support to maximise performance and revenue potential.
- Understand the local market and have a strong awareness of competitors, including their strengths and weaknesses.
- Collaborate closely with the Revenue team to ensure effective management of bedroom enquiries and accurate revenue projections.
- Ensure all event costing and plans meet both budgetary requirements and client expectations.
- Have a strong understanding of budgets, rates and commercial opportunities to obtain the maximum value from every booking.
- Ensure events are delivered to the agreed specification, budget and timescale while maintaining the highest standards of guest service.
- Work closely with all hotel departments to ensure weddings and events are planned and delivered seamlessly.
- Deal confidently and professionally with any challenges or changes throughout the event planning and delivery process.

- Experienced in hospitality, events or a similar customer-focused environment.
- Ideally experienced in wedding and event planning and coordination.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident managing multiple enquiries, bookings and deadlines.
- Commercially aware, with an understanding of budgets, rates, sales and revenue.
- A confident communicator who enjoys building relationships with customers.
- Comfortable conducting meetings, show rounds and sales conversations.
- A natural team leader who can motivate and support a small team.
- Calm and professional under pressure, with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Guest-focused while also understanding the commercial needs of the hotel.
- Flexible and willing to work evenings, weekends and other hours required by the events business.
- Someone who enjoys being part of a fun, hardworking and supportive hotel team.

Pay: £28,000.00-£31,000.00 per year
