We’re looking for a Mechanical Estimator to join our friendly family-run construction business.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants more than just another estimating job. As this is a brand-new role within our business, you'll have the chance to make it your own, help improve the way we work, and play an important part in the continued growth of our mechanical division.
Whether you're an experienced Mechanical Estimator or you're mechanically qualified with hands-on industry experience and have been involved in estimating, we'd love to hear from you.
The Role
Working alongside our Head of Mechanical, you’ll prepare competitive tenders for a variety of commercial and domestic mechanical projects.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
· Reviewing tender documents, specifications and drawings.
· Preparing accurate take-offs and detailed cost estimates.
· Sending enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors and reviewing quotations.
· Looking for value engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions.
· Visiting sites where required to understand project requirements and identify potential risks.
· Producing high-quality tender submissions and responding to client queries.
· Working closely with our design, commercial and operations teams throughout the tender process.
· Helping to improve our estimating systems and processes.
· Supporting the continued growth of our mechanical division.
About You
We're looking for someone who is organised, motivated and enjoys working as part of a team.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Experience within the mechanical sector, including plumbing, heating or ventilation.
- Knowledge of mechanical services in commercial and domestic projects.
- Demonstratable estimating experience with a mechanical focus.
- Good commercial awareness.
- A positive, proactive approach.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good IT skills and confidence working in an office environment.
