About the Role
The Retreat Clinics is looking for a compassionate and motivated Assistant Clinician to join our Adult Autism & ADHD Service.
We are seeking someone with experience working within autism and/or ADHD services who is confident supporting individuals in a community or outpatient setting. The successful candidate will be able to make appropriate clinical triage decisions within established guidelines while delivering person-centred, compassionate care.

The Role
As an Assistant Clinician, you will support both our diagnostic and therapeutic pathways, contributing to a varied and rewarding workload.
Working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team—including Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Psychiatrists, Nurses, Senior Clinicians, our Post-Diagnostic Lead, and administrative colleagues—you will play an important role in delivering outstanding care.
Our service also benefits from the expertise of Experts by Experience, whose lived experience helps shape and enhance the support we provide.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting clinical assessment and therapeutic pathways for autistic and ADHD adults
- Assisting with clinical triage in line with agreed protocols
- Managing your own workload under appropriate supervision
- Working collaboratively with clinicians and the wider multidisciplinary team
- Supporting trainees through mentoring and guidance
- Contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives
- Participating in special projects to enhance client care and service delivery
- Engaging in continuing professional development (CPD) and shared learning activities
You will work closely with the Clinical Leads and Service Manager to continually improve clinical processes and the experience of both clients and colleagues.
Essential Criteria
We are looking for someone who has:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience supporting autistic and/or ADHD individuals
- Experience working within an outpatient or community healthcare setting
· Knowledge of supporting people with Autism/ADHD within an outpatient/community setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and other IT systems, including CRM software
- The ability to manage a caseload under supervision
Desirable Criteria
It would be advantageous if you also have:
- Degree-level education (or equivalent relevant experience)
- Experience writing diagnostic reports
- Previous employment within a healthcare setting
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
- Experience contributing to assessments that include risk assessments
