About the opportunity:
The Civil/Structural team in Defence Infrastructure specialises in solving the most complex and technically demanding structural engineering problems for the nuclear defence industry.
Each project is unique, but typically involves consideration of dynamic load effects due to extreme hazards, including seismic, blast, and impact. We have to look beyond code checks to get a deeper insight into structural response and failure mechanisms, considering ductility, nonlinear buckling, and soil structure interaction. We work things out as a team, starting from first principles, researching methodologies, challenging assumptions, thinking outside the box, and constantly learning. This role provides a fantastic career opportunity, whilst developing your skills and experiences under the guidance and mentorship within our central systems engineering team.

Responsibilities Include:
Inter-discipline project planning, delivery and financial performance.
Provision of technical quality and excellence of project deliverables.
Providing technical and professional guidance, support and development of more junior engineers and technicians.
Developing good working relationships with clients and other company departments.
Adherence and contribution to business and quality management systems.
Operational and design safety, and developing good safety culture.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
Proven ability to manage projects and preparation of project deliverables, including managing quality, budget, programme and resources.
Good understanding of structural theory, with proven problem solving ability.
Demonstrable experience in civil and structural design, with the ability to apply British Standards and Eurocodes effectively in practice
Proven ability in preparation of bids and proposals, and developing good working relationships with clients.
Good, accredited MEng degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
A Chartered Engineer (ICE or IStructE), is required for higher level positions.
