Are you a driven, sharp-minded journalist with a passion for breaking stories and community-led reporting? Do you thrive in fast-paced, news-rich environments where every day brings something new? If so, we want you on our team.

Please note; this is a location specific role and you must be able to commute daily to our Wincanton office.

About the Role

We’re seeking a talented journalist who has their finger on the pulse and a hunger to uncover the stories that matter — both in print and online. You’ll be working at the heart of a vibrant patch, producing high-quality journalism that engages, informs, and resonates with our readers.

What You’ll Be Doing

Finding and producing compelling stories for both print and digital platforms
Building contacts and staying in tune with local issues and emerging news
Covering breaking news with accuracy, speed, and strong editorial judgement
Writing clean, engaging copy to deadline
Contributing ideas to strengthen and grow our online presence
Ensuring high journalistic standards in all content produced

What We’re Looking For

Ideally NCTJ-qualified, or equivalent experience demonstrating strong reporting and writing skills
A natural newshound with curiosity, initiative, and a proactive approach
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a fast-moving editorial team
Strong understanding of digital news and audience engagement

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £25,000.00-£27,500.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

Wincanton BA9: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
